Listening to radio is a great way to develop an ear for a foreign language. The online radio stations below can help you do just that!

Sort by name, location, and genre to find a station that suits your interests. The first independent radio station in Haiti, was remarkable for its broad democratic appeal and unparalleled popularity with the Haitian people.Radio is the most popular form of media in Haiti, so there are numerous broadcasting stations. The top 5 stations listed on the internet are:Radio Television Model was the best website I found for all kinds of Haitian media. This website offers news, radio, television, podcasts, obituaries, photos, and even horoscopes.  I had to translate the page to English from French. They offer media in both French and Kreyol. I sampled a couple of podcasts, and because of the language barrier I wasn’t able to learn much, but I do know their style leans towards a lot of lengthy dialogue. The podcasts on this website are uploaded to and linked to Soundcloud, which is an inexpensive way to record and share.

Our philosophy rests on three pillars: CommunityDiscovery and Education. Our objective is to provide solidarity through radio, giving a voice to under-served communities and to become a bridge between them. We focus heavily on live broadcasting as a tool for the discovery of new music and ideas, and our educational initiatives put the tools of DIY radio into the hands of average people with the aim of not only expression, but also increased media literacy during a time when we seem to need it most.

We are inspired by the radio pioneers of the past and gratefully acknowledge their shoulders on which we stand: Radio Caroline, Radio Alice, Steal This Radio, Radio Model Like them, we will strive to broadcast not the commercial dross that clogs the terrestrial airwaves, but original programming as diverse as the programmers themselves – stories, sound art, radical ideation, comedy, sex, and experimentation as yet unheard. We are a community, and all are welcome to participate.
